08.4.2014

HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 4, 2014 – The Physician Assistant Studies program at High Point University recently hired Elyse Watkins as a clinical assistant professor.

Watkins will teach many different classes in the PA program, including medical history taking, physical examination and the health care provider communications course. She will also co-teach the clinical decision-making and clinical procedures courses.

Watkins, an OB-GYN PA, is fully prepared to instruct future PAs at HPU after working as a clinical preceptor for PA students for 20 years and as a PA educator at Indiana University for the past two years. She has also worked overseas in medical missions.

“I am thrilled to join what will be one of the best PA programs in the country,” says Watkins.

Watkins received her Bachelor of Arts in anthropology from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as her Bachelor of Science in physician assistant studies from the George Washington University. She also holds a Master of Science in health care administration from California State University, and she is working toward a doctorate degree in health science from Nova Southeastern University.
