HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 12, 2014 – Taylor Duggins, rising senior at High Point University and Winston-Salem native, is helping NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon engage with his fans this summer.
As an intern for Jeff Gordon Inc., the business administration major is responsible for updating and responding to fans through the JeffGordonStore social media sites. She also assists with other projects, including an in-depth analysis of Jeff Gordon Store customers.
“I wanted an internship that would provide me with an additional perspective of how the motor sports industry works,” says Duggins. “Jeff Gordon is a household name and I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. Jeff Gordon Inc. allowed me to experience the day-to-day business responsibilities of how to engage with a fan base and ultimately grow it through social media.”
Duggins credits HPU’s Office of Career and Internship Services with preparing her for the professional world.
“They set up events to provide opportunities for students to engage with employers, learn about office dress codes and are helpful in determining each students’ next step,” says Duggins. “Ultimately, they help each student find a way to pursue what interests them.”
