With a successful 2014 Commencement Ceremony behind us, recent High Point University graduates are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2014:

Name: Sarah Houston

Major: Houston graduated with a certified degree in Athletic Training on May 3.

Post-graduation plans: Houston accepted a position as an Athletic Training Intern at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, an athletic complex located in the Walt Disney World Resortin Orlando, Fla. The complex includes 9 venues and hosts numerous amateur and professional sporting events throughout the year.

How HPU helped you get there: “High Point had an amazing Athletic Training staff that helped prepare me for the future. They were able to teach me life skills, professionalism and aspects not specifically related to athletic training to help me achieve my goals.”

Most impactful professor at HPU: “I had three very impactful professors during my time at HPU including Dr. Henning, Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Groh. I honestly do not know how I would have completed this major so successfully without all their help along the way. They did an amazing job of preparing me for the next chapter in my life.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “I had many impactful moments as a student at HPU. The most impactful moment was when I passed my Athletic Trainer Board of Certification exam along with my three fellow students in my major. At that moment I realized that all my hard work and the Athletic Training faculty and staff had paid off!”
