HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 12, 2016 – High Point University will offer community members an evening of non-stop musical performances with its spring chamber ensemble concert, “Kaleidoscope.” The event, part of the university’s Cultural Enrichment Series, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. It is free and open to the public; tickets are not required.
This year’s performance marks the fourth of its kind at HPU and will cover a broad spectrum of musical styles. Nine musical ensembles will be featured: HPU Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Flute Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, String Quartet, Saxophone Quartet, Brass Quintet, Guitar Ensemble and Clarinet Ensemble.
“The Kaleidoscope concert is one of the most popular instrumental concerts every year,” says Dr. Danny Frye, director of instrumental studies. “With a menagerie of ensembles positioned in different locations in the auditorium performing a broad spectrum of music, it’s a non-stop musical experience. Audiences seem to appreciate the variety of music and the shifting visual focus of the performances.”
