School of Education Hosts ‘Principal Panel’ for Career Development

HIGH POINT, N.C., May 11, 2016 – High Point University welcomed 12 principals representing Davidson and Guilford County Schools on April 26 for the first Principal Panel 2annual “Principal Panel.” This event helps to prepare senior education majors with post-graduation job interviews.

The principals conducted mock interviews with the HPU students launching new careers in education. Forty-three senior education majors participated.

“This event was an effort to provide pre-service teachers with a meaningful and authentic experience directly related to seeking out, interviewing for and securing employment in the field of education,” says Teresa Owens, instructor in the School of Education.

“HPU should be very proud of this group of future educators,” says George Boschini, principal of McNair Elementary School in Guilford County schools. “Their level of preparation, poise and passion for teaching is a direct reflection of HPU’s School of Education.”

HPU hopes to make the “Principal Panel” event an annual tradition for all graduating seniors in the School of Education.
