HPU Announces New Hires

HPU Staff

HIGH POINT, N.C., June 4, 2018 –  High Point University welcomed four new staff members during the month of May. They are as follows:


Miche Jones joined the Office of Human Resources at HPU as a human resources coordinator. She assists campus departments with staffing open positions, posts employment opportunities on the web and helps with onboarding new employees. She previously worked as a human resources assistant for a health care facility in California, where she conducted orientations and assisted with employee inquiries. She has a Bachelor of Science in human resources and is pursuing a master’s degree in HR management.




Rick Blake joined the Physician Assistant Studies program at HPU as the clinical site recruiter. He helps secure and maintain quality clinical sites, where HPU’s PA students gain valuable training and hands-on experience. His background is in health care management, previously serving in hospital administration and physician practice management. Blake holds a Master of Business Administration and is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives (FACHE).




Courtney Youngblood joined the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at HPU as a campus tour coordinator. She is responsible for scheduling prospective student tours, greeting families when they arrive, and managing the ambassador program. She will serve as a mentor to student ambassadors while also supervising their work. She previously worked as a high school history and language arts teacher and also as the volunteer coordinator at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia. Youngblood holds a Bachelor of Arts in history, as well as a Master of Arts in museum studies.




Stephen Shaffer joined the Congdon School of Health Sciences at HPU as the inaugural RAISE Fellow. He will help develop and launch the HPU RAISE Fellowship Program as part of HPU’s Pro Bono Physical Therapy Clinic and work as a teaching assistant, lecturer and clinician. Shaffer, who has experience in bilingual services and advocacy, has been managing patients with various orthopedic conditions for 15 years. He holds a Master of Science in physical therapy, a Doctor of Science in orthopedic physical therapy and has completed both residency and fellowship training in orthopedic manual physical therapy. Shaffer has conducted research on various aspects of temporomandibular disorders (TMD), problems with the jaw and its surrounding tissues, and has published and presented in various capacities locally, nationally and internationally.
