In 2018, the world is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Louisa May Alcott’s novel “Little Women.” To commemorate this anniversary, HPU’s theatre and music departments are presenting the Broadway version, “Little Women: The Musical.”
This timeless and captivating story follows the adventures of the four March sisters – romantic Meg, high-spirited Jo, sweet Beth, and precociously playful Amy – along with their beloved mother, Marmee, as they experience life in Concord, Massachusetts, during the Civil War. Filled with adventure, heartbreak and hope, “Little Women” is an entertaining and delightful story for all ages to enjoy.
“This production will be the grandest of our 2018-2019 season with lavish costumes and settings, which will transport the audience to mid-19th century New England,” says Doug Brown, associate professor and interim department chair, who is directing the show.
The performances will feature HPU students Demetria Hale as Jo, Laura Carskadden as Meg, Juliet Jacob as Beth, Emma Russell as Amy, and Shayne Maggard as Marmee. The cast also includes Abigail Hackenberg, Rebecca Korn, Henry Heydinger, Noah Sigsworth, Steffen Haugsted, Alec Yamartino, Morgan Barnsley, Jackson Barnes, Tommy Demetriou, Dan McGee, Ragan Keefer, Tiara Fielding and Tegan Kahn.
