Top 10 Reasons You Can’t Miss HPU’s Family Weekend

HPU’s Winter Family Weekend is just around the corner! As families make their way to campus on Feb. 1, HPU prepares to welcome more than 5,000 visitors for a fellowship-filled weekend. With three event-packed days, here are the Top 10 can’t-miss opportunities families can expect:

 

1 Hear from HPU’s president. In a can’t-miss session, President Nido Qubein will host a session on Life Skills. Get there early as seats fill quickly. Feb. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center Pauline Theater.

 

2 Learn from parent CEOs. Moderated by HPU President Dr. Qubein, hear from HPU parents who serve in executive roles. Get their take on the leadership and life skills that will help you lead a life of success and significance. Feb. 2 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Congdon Hall’s Callicutt Auditorium.

 

3 Looking for Lessons in Leadership? We have a series for that. Enjoy Ted Talk-style presentations from a few of HPU’s impressive faculty. Feb. 2 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Congdon Hall’s Callicutt Auditorium.

4 Laugh It Up! On Friday night, take part in a family weekend favorite –watch Charcoal Pony, HPU’s student improv group, as they perform act out scenes and games based on audience suggestions. On Saturday, laugh ‘til it hurts at The Passing Zone, one of the most successful and sought-after comedy acts. Feb. 2 from 9:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. in R.G. Wanek Center’s Extraordinarie Cinema.

 

5 One word: Swag. “I don’t like getting free stuff,” said no one ever! Pick up a complimentary registration gift when you check in at the R.G. Wanek Center.

 

6 Expand your foodie pallet. Enjoy complimentary meals on a campus ranked #1 in the nation for best food. Top that off with a stop at the Extraordinarie Cinema where you can snag popcorn and catch a family film.

 

7Get your exercise on. Join HPUREC for a 50-minute yoga session taught by certified student instructors. Rejuvenate and invigorate for the full weekend ahead. No mat? No problem! HPUREC will provide you with one. Feb. 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Slane Student Center Gym.

 

8 Discover the pathway to Excellence! The Director of Learning Excellence will present an overview of HPU’s Learning Excellence Program. Learning Excellence Specialists and students, will answer questions and share their insights about the results-driven strategies and coaching provided through this transformational program. Feb. 1 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm. in Cottrell Hall’s Baur Institute for Executive Education.

 

9 Make Family memories with a fun photo opportunity. You can never replicate a moment, but you can capture it through photographs. Choose your photo booth props and stop by for a family photo that you can share instantly on social media and receive via email on the spot. Feb. 1 from 1:00 p.m. – 3 p.m. in the R.G. Wanek Center.

 

10 Be the number one fan. Deck yourself in purple and join HPU’s Championship Coach Tubby Smith and the Men’s Basketball team as the Panthers take on the Hampton Pirates. Feb. 2 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Millis Gym.
