HIGH POINT, N.C., April 25, 2019 – High Point University’s Spanish Club will be partnering with the YWCA of High Point and Westchester Country Day School to host a Día de los Niños/Día de la Tierra event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on April 28 at the High Point Public Library. The event is free and open to the public.
Children’s Day, Día de los Niños as it is commonly known in Latin American countries, is a day to celebrate children from all cultural backgrounds while promoting children’s literacy. In conjunction with Children’s Day, the event will also feature Earth Day activities.
“We are excited to be a part of this event that serves to bring the city of High Point together to celebrate the Latino culture,” says Suzanne Ward, HPU instructor of modern foreign languages. “This opportunity allows our students to gain cultural experience just minutes from our campus.”
HPU’s own mascot, Prowler the panther, will be on site for children in the community to interact with. Activities will include face painting, snacks, Latin music and more.
