Retired HPU Faculty Honored

HIGH POINT, N.C., May 30, 2019 – High Point University recently honored retiring faculty Dr. Cherl Harrison during an end-of-the-year faculty meeting.

Harrison came to HPU in 1987 and served as a professor of art and chaired the fine arts department composed of music, theatre and art before HPU divided the departments to establish the School of Art and Design. The departments of music and theatre moved to HPU’s David R. Hayworth College of Arts and Sciences. Harrison was instrumental in the development of HPU’s School of Art and Design.

“A talented photographer and artist herself, Dr. Harrison helped to build the strong School of Art and Design that is thriving today at HPU,” said HPU Provost Dr. Dennis Carroll. “Dr. Harrison took great pride in the accomplishments of her students, served as a life-long mentor to them, and advocated for the continued development of the arts at HPU. She will be missed.”
