HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 9, 2019 – Over the weekend, more than 300 High Point University students ran or walked a collective 1,000 miles around HPU’s Vert Stadium as part of its 1,000 Miles for Kids event. Funds raised exceeded $31,000 and will be donated to the YMCA of High Point to empower and support kids in the local community.

Throughout the event, attendees participated in games and activities to raise awareness around the local impact of the YMCA of High Point.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to support an organization like the YMCA of High Point and all that they do for the local community,” says Bryan Fortier, founder of 1,000 Miles for Kids and HPU student. “Growing from last year’s inaugural event demonstrates the impact we can make when organizations across campus unite for one common cause.”

In 2018, the YMCA of High Point served over 24,000 individuals through swim lessons, summer camps, after school programs, daycare and Camp Cheerio.
