Entrepreneurship Competitions

The Belk Entrepreneurship Center organizes two main competitions each year:

The Elevator Pitch Competition, held during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November, and the Business Plan Competition, held during in the spring semester.

Elevator Pitch Competition

HPU students have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and pitch their best business ideas during Phillips School of Business’ annual Elevator Pitch Competition. The award money allows students to invest in their business ideas and move forward in making those ideas a reality.

This year the competition will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.  To compete, you must submit the application by October 28, 2019.  Applications may be obtained from Kathy Elliott, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, at

The competition is sponsored by the McKee Entrepreneurship Fund and the Business Accelerator Fund.  Students vie for first, second, and third place awards, plus an additional people’s choice award.  Up to $5,000 in prizes may be awarded.

Students may compete individually or in teams.  The competition is open to any enrolled student at High Point University.

Business Plan Competition

The annual competition is open to all High Point University undergraduate students enrolled full time in the spring semester of the competition year, regardless of course of study. Be sure to check the full rules and requirements.

A panel of judges consisting of entrepreneurs, investors, and local business leaders evaluates each business plan and the corresponding presentations made by the chosen finalists.
