Kayak Roll & Skills Practice - Millis Pool
People from the HPU and surrounding community are invited to practice their roll and other paddling skills. On most evenings, no formal instruction will be provided.
Time: 4:00-6:00pm, Sundays

Location: HPU Millis Athletic & Convocation Center Pool, located on the downhill side of the Millis Center. Please use the parking lot at the bottom of the hill, unless otherwise posted on this webpage.
Fee: Free for HPU students, faculty, staff; $2 for non-HPU folks

Feb. 27 or 28: Day Trip to Winterplace - Ghent, WV
A full day of full on the slopes. A great beginner trip as well as good for those with a little more adventure in their blood. Dress warm! And pad your backside!

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK, sponsored by the HPU Volunteer Center!


March 20: Paintball - Sedalia, NC
An afternoon of paintball on a competition field by ourselves! The more students who participate, the more fun we have! Dress appropriately for the weather (long pants and sleeves, camos are welcome). Mask, goggles, paint gun, unlimited compressed air, and paint balls provided.

Sunday, March 27: Ziplines & Hike - Pilot Mountain State Park, King & Mt. Airy, NC
Nothing is more beautiful than hiking in the crisp spring air before the leaves block the breathtaking mountaintop view. Dress warm!

April 2-5: Mountain Biking on the Virginia Creeper Trail - Damascus, VA
Pedal to the top and cruise back down! Or for those with leisure on their minds, take the shuttle to the top and coast downhill to the campground. A fun-filled 3 days of activities over Easter Weekend! No classes on Monday!

April 16-18: Whitewater Rafting & Aerobatics - Fayetteville, WV
Enjoy class V rapids on the New River with spring river levels! Then turn everything upside-down on an aerobatics ride in a 1950's biplane!

April 24 or 25: Big Sweep River Kayak & Clean-up - Dan River, NC
Once again, the OAC will partner with the Tarheel Paddlers Association, the Dan River Company, Hanging Rock State Park rangers, and local volunteers to clean a 15-mile section of the Dan River in Stokes County. No kayaking experience necessary.

Lose yourself on the slopes of a West Virginia mountain. Greens, blues, and double blacks of Snowshoe! Warm yourself in the condo for hot cocoa and fine fellowship!
