Welcome

At High Point, campus life encourages wholeness
and empowers students by creating a strong sense of self, if
camaraderie, of community. In fact, students, faculty, and staff
emphasize-always-the unity of the High Point experience, whether
they're playing sports; watching their favorite team; rehearsing for a
play; meeting a deadline for a campus publication; debating a political
issue; painting The Rock; or gliding across the Kester International Promenade in pursuit
of a lazy, floating disk.
The foundation of community is
residential life. In a typical year two-thirds of the entering freshman
come from states other than North Carolina; one-third, from more than
500 miles away. As a result, students tend to stay on campus over the
weekends. In fact, even students who could easily go home often don't
because their friends at High Point don't and because there is much to
do on campus and off.
Each semester, the Campus Activities Team, an agency of the Student Government Association, sponsors a
variety of entertainment, including comedians, concerts, dances,
excursions, film nights, and major campus events, such as Homecoming,
Family Weekend, and Spring Fling. Among the most popular student
activities are film nights at local theaters. The Campus Activities Team provides complimentary events every weekend for our students.
