Destination Markets:

High Point University alumni and parents have provided mentorship and insight into career exploration for today’s students.

New York

For the last two years, New York City employers have welcomed students to explore various fields including fashion, marketing, finance, and corporate communication. Students will return to NYC during Fall Break 2017.

In order to allow more students from various fields of study to access the opportunities available through HPU in the City, the 2017-2018 program has been expanded to include:

 Host Locations

During the University’s Fall and Spring breaks, some of the nation’s top employers have hosted a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be a successful intern and employee for current High Point University students. From recent intern-to-hire staffers to C-Suite executives, HPU students have gained insight into their hiring processes, along with touring their showrooms, newsrooms and trading floors. Previous hosts include Bloomberg Financial, Goldman Sachs, Fox Television, Jordan Edmiston Group Inc, PVH Corp., Ralph Lauren, Specialist Staffing Group and Hollis Taggart Galleries.

Site Visit Format

Students are from majors across the University and benefit greatly from hearing about the various organizational infrastructures that allow for high-performing teams to compete in today’s market.

90-minute site visits generally include:

1) Introduction to the company and corporate culture with senior management

2) Overview of application and hiring processes for internships and entry-level
positions with human resources staff

3) Question and answer panel with millennial employees

4) Facility tour





Trip Costs

The estimated cost to participate in HPU in the City (either NYC or Washington D.C.) is $1,000. This estimate includes air fare, housing, meals, and incidentals.
