Speaker: Dr. Nido Qubein
This ceremony is always a special event. Each year, Dr. Nido R. Qubein, High Point University president, addresses the undergraduate day candidates for graduation and their guests. Dr. Qubein is the recipient of the highest awards given for professional speakers including the Cavett (known as the Oscar of professional speaking), and many other honors such as the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the Horatio Alger Award for Distinguished Americans, and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. As a business leader, he is chairman of Great Harvest Bread Company and past president of the Big South Athletic Conference. He serves on the boards of several national organizations including BB&T, the La-Z-Boy Corporation, and DOTS. He is also the author of many books and audio programs, and teaches the President’s Seminar on Life Skills to all freshmen and the President’s Senior Seminar at HPU.
Complimentary tickets are required for this event, and must be picked up in advance. Each undergraduate day candidate for graduation is permitted a maximum of three tickets (the graduate and two guests). These tickets then can be used for a complimentary lunch at food service locations in the Slane Center and Wanek Center. Your ticket will serve as admission for the program and lunch.
Tickets are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.
Tickets may be picked up during normal office hours from April 29 to May 6 at the Slane Concierge Desk.
August and December 2014 undergraduate day candidates for graduation who are not able to pick up tickets at the designated location are asked to contact the Campus Concierge at 336.841.4636.
Appropriate dress for this event is business attire.
The program will be broadcast via closed-circuit television at the Wanek Center Extraordinaire Cinema.
Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the shuttle service to the Program. Shuttles will begin running at 10:30 a.m. from the parking lot behind the Wilson School of Commerce Building. The shuttles will make a continuous loop from the parking lot to the Millis Center.
Handicapped parking will be available adjacent to the Millis Center.
