Founded in 2004, Heartstrings Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit dedicated to providing compassionate validation, bereavement education and hope to families who have suffered pregnancy and infant loss.  We provide distinctive peer-based support groups and one-to-one mentor support for bereaved parents in the Triad free-of-charge.  Currently, Heartstrings is based in centrally-located Kernersville, NC in a recently restored historic home offering a pleasant and comforting setting for the families we serve.

With a limited staff of 2 part-time employees, an almost complete strategic plan that will determine our progress over the next 5 years, and an engaged group of volunteers and board members, it is an exciting time to become involved in Heartstrings.  The internship would focus on the areas of marketing and communication under my direct supervision, including the following tasks:

  • Writing and distributing press releases promoting upcoming support groups, special events, fundraisers, and any other publicity-worthy opportunities
  • Contacting and distributing public service announcements (PSAs) to area TV and radio stations
  • Contribute in development of story ideas to pitch to Triad publications

  • Assist with electronic marketing efforts via Facebook, Constant Contact, and the Heartstrings website

The unpaid internship will be part-time and will be scheduled 2-3 weekdays for a minimum of 6 hours per week at a mutually-agreeable time.  The intern will be expected to identify his/her objectives at the beginning of the internship, and routine reviews will measure progress towards accomplishing them.
