Kelly M Tran, Assistant Professor of Game and Interactive Media Design, teaches and researches games and their impact on society. She is especially interested in games for learning, as well as digital and analog game design.
Dr. Tran engages students using gameplay and deep discussion of both educational and commercial games. She also leads students in creating games, and in researching and investigating their impact.
Her research interests include augmented reality games, game making, family gameplay, and teaching and learning through technology. She received her PhD from Arizona State University, where she completed a dissertation entitled Distributed Teaching and Learning in Pokémon Go, in which she investigated the player community of the popular mobile game.
