Students with will take a common core of Communication courses but then specialize in one of the following areas:

Electronic Media
  • Areas of study: Audio and Video Production
  • Focus: writing, production and performance
Games and Interactive Communication
  • Areas of study: "New" media primarily focused on computers and interactive technology
  • Focus: User-directed content
Journalism
  • Areas of study: Broadcast/Print/Internet
  • Focus: Writing and presentational skills/legal and ethical foundations
Media and Popular Culture Studies
  • Areas of study: Rhetoric/Communication Studies/Cultural Communication
  • Focus: critical research and analysis/cultural studies.
Organizational Communication
  • Areas of Study: Public Relations/Advertising/Health Communication
  • Strategic communication to defined publics and audiences
