As part of the Common Experience theme of Growing Our Future, the Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present an Extension Project performance of John Steinbeck’s The Grapes of Wrath. HPU students join professional cast and crew to make this performance possible.
Renowned first as a novel, the story of the Joad family and their adventure from the dust bowl of Oklahoma is familiar to all. Placed in poverty by the loss of their farm, the Joads head west for California seeking a brighter future. Despite dealing with death and deprivation on their journey, the play becomes in the final essence a soaring and deeply moving affirmation of the indomitability of the human spirit, and of the essential goodness and strength which – then as now – resides in the hearts and minds of the “common man” throughout the world.
A limited number of complimentary tickets will be available for the general public by contacting the HPU Campus Concierge at 336-841-4636 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
