*Chair Dance Recital – Friday, November 14 at 5:00 pm
The university’s School of Art & Design presents an exhibition of innovative student and faculty chair designs. Our exhibit is on display in conjunction with the Reynolda House Museum of American Art’s special exhibit, The Art of Seating: Two Hundred Years of American Design. More than 40 iconic chairs featured at the museum provide a point of reference for the chair prototypes and ideation designed by our own students and faculty at High Point University. Design students learn to combine artistic forms with emerging technologies to bring an original idea to prototyping, manufacturing, and global marketing. Furnishings and product designers consider limited resources, material life cycles, aesthetics and product placement to attract a targeted customer.
As part of High Point University Explores the Art of Seating, there will be an Informal Dance Recital on Friday, November 14th from 5-7 pm in the Sechrest Art Gallery located in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. A small troop of High Point University dance students will perform themed choreography relating to “The Chair” which is an iconic utilitarian work of art.
