HPU Piano Competition: Funded by The Randall Thomas Johnson Trust

The High Point University Piano Competition brings 3 finalists to campus for our September 9th event to compete for cash prizes.  Finalists are selected by the HPU piano faculty from a pool of submissions.  The three finalists will then compete for first, second and third place cash prizes determined by outside judges brought to campus. This is a national competition open to pianists ages 15 through 25. This event is open to the public. No tickets required.

Voyager Golden Record 40th Anniversary Concert

The Department of Music celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Voyager spacecraft's Golden Record with performances of selections from the disc. In 1977 the Voyager spacecraft launched carrying a gold-plated phonograph record with images and sounds that portray the diversity of life and culture on earth.  The concert features music by Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Chuck Berry, Louis Armstrong,  Blind Willie Johnson, and folk music from around the world.   Image credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech

Fall Dance Concert

Performance will begin at 7:30pm. The Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to share and showcase the talents of students in the first ever Fall Dance Concert. It is free and open to the public; tickets are not required. However, we are asking attendees to bring a school supply item for us to donate to our local schools.  We have a lot to be thankful for and we want us to pass that along to help out the community.
