The Sound in Picture Concert

Movie Music Extravaganza will feature a variety of musical styles used in film music from classical, to jazz, popular music and Broadway.  Highlights of the program include music from Star Wars, Pink Panther, Harry Potter, and Disney films. The concert will spotlight HPU music faculty, students and small ensembles, along with guest performers. This event is open to the public. No tickets required.

HPU welcomes to campus Associate Professor of Trombone at the University of Kansas, Dr. Michael Davidson, for a 7:30pm recital on Monday, October 7th at the David Hayworth Chapel.  Dr. Davidson will perform a varied program of solos works for trombone, as well as pieces for trombone with piano. This event is open to the public. No tickets required.

On Friday, November 1st, the High Point University Music Department presents the Fall Percussion Ensemble Concert in Pauline Theatre at the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. Directed by Chris Thompson, the HPU Percussion ensemble will present a diverse range of exciting percussion literature that is sure to entertain. This is an event you do not want to miss! Recital Series Featuring: Aleks Romano and Kevin Miller

Critically acclaimed musical artists Aleks Romano, mezzo-soprano, and Kevin Miller, pianist take the stage in this special collaboration featuring music by and about women. This program centers on the feminine perspective in pursuit of a life well-lived, with an emphasis on diverse compositional voices and viewpoints. Beloved works from the vocal canon are reframed alongside new works, allowing for a parallel study of historical perspectives and experiences. Open to the public. No tickets required.

Choral Concert

Lessons and Carols

This special candlelight service is the final Chapel service of the fall semester, bringing the community together to remember and retell the Christmas story. The service will feature members of the university community reading scripture and music led by the Chapel Choir. The service is based on the traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols from King’s College, Cambridge, England.
