Taiwanese pianist Yi-Yang Chen, 22, has been training on piano since age 8. He was admitted as a graduate student to Robert McDonald and Jerome Lowenthal at The Juilliard School in 2012 and obtained his Master of Music in piano performance in 2014. Chen is currently a doctoral student in piano performance at Eastman School of Music, where he also received a Bachelor of Music while studying under Douglas Humpherys. Voyager Golden Record 40th Anniversary Concert

The Department of Music celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Voyager spacecraft's Golden Record with performances of selections from the disc. In 1977 the Voyager spacecraft launched carrying a gold-plated phonograph record with images and sounds that portray the diversity of life and culture on earth.  The concert features music by Bach, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Chuck Berry, Louis Armstrong,  Blind Willie Johnson, and folk music from around the world.
