Piedmont Plein Aire Paint-Out

From September 18-21 over 30 nationally known landscape painters will come to High Point for the first annual Piedmont Plein Aire Paint-out.  “Plein air” is a French expression which means “in the open air,” and is specifically used to describe the act of painting outdoors.  High Point University has been selected as one of the sites the artists may choose. Participating artists will paint outdoors, rain or shine, on the 19th and 20th along the promenade, in front of Roberts Hall, and/or in…

Alan Michael Parker, Douglas C. Houchens Professor of English at Davidson College, has written three novels, Cry Uncle, Whale Man, and The Committee on Town Happiness, along with eight collections of poems. Voice Division Recital

This voice recital is a celebration of women.  The texts and music reveal a candid look at different aspects of being female; their lives, loves, losses, humor and even their weaknesses.  Mezzo-soprano, Dr. Candice Burrows will be accompanied by Japanese collaborative pianist, Hisako Hiratsuka, of Tufts University.  Special guest, Dr. Laura Stevens will also be playing flute.
