Alan Michael Parker, Douglas C. Houchens Professor of English at Davidson College, has written three novels, Cry Uncle, Whale Man, and The Committee on Town Happiness, along with eight collections of poems. From September 17-20 over 30 nationally known landscape painters will come to High Point for the first annual Piedmont Plein Aire Paint-out.  “Plein air” is a French expression which means “in the open air,” and is specifically used to describe the act of painting outdoors.  High Point University has been selected as one of the sites the artists may choose. Participating artists will paint outdoors, rain or shine, on the 18th and 19th along the promenade, in front of Roberts Hall, and/or in…
