Greensboro Symphony Presents “Eroica”

The Greensboro Symphony explores the fine line between Heroes and Villains this November 7th at High Point University. Initially written in celebration of Napoleon’s revolutionary regime, Beethoven’s Symphony #3 swiftly changed course when Bonaparte revealed his true intentions & proclaimed himself Emperor of the French in 1804. Disgusted by Napoleon’s thirst for power, Beethoven dramatically ripped up the title page, re-named it “Sinfonia eroica” and established it as one of the most legendary works of the 19th century. Lessons and Carols
