Counseling Services staff are here to support your counseling needs and your success as a university student. All staff members have counseling education that includes a Masters degree, many hours of training/supervision as well as licensure. Learn more about our counselors below.

Lynda has a Master’s degree in Counseling from Wake Forest University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and has 20 years of counseling experience. Prior to coming to HPU, Lynda worked in a mental health hospital for 6 years and in two different substance abuse programs. She has had a private practice in counseling for the past 14 years. Lynda also has extensive experience working on eating disorder issues. On a personal note, Lynda is the mother of four grown children so she is more than happy to talk with HPU parents about the experience of supporting a college student.

Molly is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of North Carolina and has two Masters, one in Sport and Excercise Psychology and one in Counseling from UNCG. Molly particularly enjoys working with college athletes and helping students transition to college.

Carrie is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling from UNC-Greensboro and a background in music and the creative arts. Carrie has experience working with adults and adolescents in community mental health as well as with college students who struggle with mental health challenges and physical disabilities.

Aaron has a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Addictions Counseling from Appalachian State University. His professional interests include men’s issues, substance abuse concerns with adolescents/college students, motivational interviewing and developing client self-awareness.

Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina and has a Masters in Social Work from Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY. Kristen has experience working with adults in outpatient community mental health and with individuals who struggle concurrently with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Kim Dansie, MD

Dr. Dansie is Board Certified in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry and provides medication management for students needing this service who are actively engaged with a counselor in Counseling Services. She will see students by appointment only and students should coordinate this with a counselor in Counseling Services.
