COVID-19 – Update from Counseling Services
The safety and health of our community is always important to us. We are taking the concerns associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) very seriously and are closely monitoring the situation. We follow the advice of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on steps recommended to help prevent the spread of the disease, as well as state and local mandates, and encourage you to do the same.
We have changed our service model to best serve your needs, protect your health and ours, and are:
*practicing social distancing in our clinic.
*requiring all clients and visitors to the clinic to join clinic staff in wearing masks that cover nose and mouth while in the clinic.
*providing masks to those who need one upon arrival to the clinic.
*minimizing wait times in our common areas.
*providing expanded telebehavioral health services for virtual visits for therapy and for triage care.
*providing expanded outreach services to individuals during quarantine.
*limiting visitors who are not seeking care (we cannot accommodate friends who are waiting for those being seen in the clinic).
*cleaning our clinic spaces throughout the day and following strict sanitation protocols.
Counseling Services and COVID-19
Counseling services offers enhanced services due to COVID-19. Any enrolled student has full access to services offered by the Office of Counseling. Your safety and ours is our top priority and our service delivery looks a little different this year. We continue to offer telehealth services on HIPAA-compliant virtual platforms and can schedule times that will work with your needs.
Same Day Triage appointments: Students can continue to access same-day triage services, M-F, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Same-day triage appointments are 15-20-minute consultations with a licensed clinician.
We have implemented safety measures to ensure social distancing and confidentiality. We encourage students to call the office at 336.888.6352 to schedule a convenient time in your busy schedules for a triage appointment. Please note, we must adhere to strict social distance requirements and are very limited with space in our waiting area. Please call us so that we can plan for your visit and avoid having you wait in our lobby. However, if you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please come directly to our clinic during business hours.
Mental Health Emergencies and Crisis Intervention: If you are experiencing a mental health crisis/emergency, please come directly to our clinic during business hours. For after-hours and weekends, please read our Mental Health Emergencies page.
Medication appointments: For clients who are also under the care of our psychiatric nurse practitioner for medication management, appointments continue to be in our clinic, as well as via telehealth as appropriate on a case by case basis. Your provider will discuss this process with you during your appointment.
