Office Of Counseling Services

Crisis Situations and Emergencies

The well-being of High Point University students is extremely important to us. There is a counselor on-call for mental health emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

During business hours

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 5:00pm, you may come to the Office of Counseling Services or the Office of Student Life on the 3rd floor of Slane and we will arrange for you to speak with someone as soon as possible.

After business hours

After hours and on weekends, we encourage you to contact Campus Safety at (336) 841-9111 or call 911 if you are experiencing a mental health emergency. The on-call counselor will be contacted by staff and will reach out to you. If you are concerned that you may be in danger of hurting yourself or another person, you may go directly to the emergency room of UNC Regional Hospital, 600 North Elm Street  High Point, NC 27262 or call 911.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are having a mental health emergency, please do not email us or leave a voice mail and wait for a returned call. We prefer that you receive help immediately by following the instructions above.

Our office is located on the third floor of the Slane Student Center. We are open daily from 8:30am – 5:00pm.
