Presentation: Most Americans think they can file a lawsuit for being treated unjustly in the workplace. Unjust can be a termination, sexual harassment, or any unlawful pay practice. Corporations across America are adopting an Employment Arbitration Policy to support most standard internal employee disputes. Instead of filing a lawsuit the employee must submit to binding arbitration. The phenomenon of arbitration in the American workforce will be presented.

Presentation: The business of personal selling is one that has been changing over time. In the past it has been transactional where the relationship between the customer and salesperson ends as soon as the transaction ends. Now, research shows that the best way to persuade customers to buy a product is not just to sell to them, but to build a lasting relationship in order to keep that customer coming back for more. This presentation will demonstrate how a salesperson can effectively build relationships with customers in order to help them increase sales performance.

Effects of Maltreatment on North Carolina Juveniles

Presentation: Research provides that in North Carolina a juvenile is being mistreated every fifteen minutes by a parent, guardian, or caretaker. Maltreatment leaves surviving juveniles with negative neurobiological development, lessened cognitive function, and emotional effects. Research suggests that North Carolina's laws governing the prevention of juvenile maltreatment is among the poorest in the nation. Progressive juvenile maltreatment programs will be presented.

Emotion Management Among Magistrates: An Ethnographic Study

Presentation: People may find themselves in a Magistrate’s office for several different reasons. These include: getting arrested, having a warrant issued or bailing someone out of jail. For magistrates, as well as patrons, this environment can be extremely stressful. Based on my personal field observations I present the various ways emotional stress manifests itself in the daily work lives of the magistrates. I also discuss the emotional management strategies adopted by magistrates in an effort to deal with stress at work.

Gang Formation and Joining: Its Social Causes and Impact

Presentation: My survey of past research on gang formation and joining challenges previously held beliefs surrounding why indivdiuals join gangs. My findings indicate that social factors greatly contribute to one's informed decision to join or form a gang. In this presentation I will also offer a theoretical framework for understanding the role specific social factors play. As gang related activities increase understading these causal factors will better enable society to confront this challenge now and in the future.

Generational Differences in the Workforce

Presentation: This presentation will explore, the adverse conditions faced by exonerated victims, who were cleared by DNA evidence.The key issues that will be explored are counseling and restitution efforts for newly released exonerees and their re-integration (back) into society. It will also explore the views of today's changing society in relation to the use of women by the media.

Presentation: Work-family conflict is an issue of growing significance that impacts men and women, with the majority of the conflict arising among women. The effect of work-family conflict on women, their health, and their children will be examined as well as what organizations can do to help improve the lives of their employees.

Presentation: Home schooling is one of the fastest growing educational trends in the United States. Almost 2 million students are schooled at home instead of the traditional classroom. Presentation: Domestic violence is a significant problem that affects 3.3 to 10 million children a year. All children respond differently to the effects of domestic violence. Effects can be internal and external. Programs are created to teach children about domestic violence. Professionals are available to help children get through their traumatic events. What should be addressed regarding children's needs who witness domestic violence will be presented.
