Dr. Lisa Horne came to High Point University in 2006, after a 30 year career in public education as an elementary teacher, school administrator and central office leader. During those years, she was named as her district runner-up for Wachovia Principal of the Year.
Dr. Horne has served on the Smart Start Board, NC Professional Review Board, NC Teacher Academy Board of Trustees, and the Davidson County Community College Board of Trustees. Professionally, she has served on the executive boards of the Principal’s Advisory Board of the Northwest Regional Educational Association and the Forsyth Principal’s Association.
Dr. Horne studied international educational issues in Mexico with the Center for International Understanding and at the Oxford Roundtable at Oxford University in Great Britain. She has presented at conferences the NC Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), the NC Teacher of Social Studies (NCTSS) and the NC Association of Elementary Educators (NCAEE).
At High Point University, Dr. Horne coordinates the elementary education program and is a member of the Educational Policies Committee the Teacher Education Council and the Ed.D. Advisory Board. In the spring of 2012 she was elected by the faculty in the School of Education to serve as the school’s representative on the Faculty Senate.
