2018 Big South Quiz Bowl

High Point University and the Honors Scholar Program are very excited to host the 2018 Big South Quiz Bowl Tournament on February 16-17, 2018.  With great anticipation, we hope this year’s tournament will feature all schools in the Big South Conference.

 Registration

Registration will be open until Friday, February 9, 2018. There will be a $50.00 registration fee per team, payable during check-in at the tournament. Payment should be to High Point University. A W-9 form is available if needed; contact Dr. Carpenter for more information.

Directions: From US-311/I-74, follow signs to High Point / Highway 68 South (Eastchester Drive) to Exit #67. Take Highway 68/Eastchester Drive South. Turn right onto N. Mall Lane (entrance into Oak Hollow Mall). Turn right onto Mall Loop Road. Hotel is nestled in the loop surrounding Oak Hollow Mall.

Tournament Format

  • NAQT rules except where otherwise specified
  • Full round-robin with multiple simultaneous games in each round
  • Each game will include two 10-question halves, with a score-check at halftime
  • Final team rankings are based, in order, on:
    • 1) wins,
    • 2) head-to-head record,
    • 3) total points scored, and
    • 4) total points against.
    • If a tie occurs with these criteria, the tied teams will compete in additional half-games to determine a winner.
