Honors Scholar Program Honors Scholar Program – Honors Living Community

Students in the Honors Scholar Program at High Point University have the opportunity to live with fellow honors students in the Honors Living Community. This community is an academically-focused, resourceful living community located in York Residence Hall (3rd & 4th Floors). Here, honors students live among other fellow honors students ranging from freshmen to seniors allowing for a mentoring atmosphere to be established.

The students have access to a full-time Faculty-in-Residence, Dr. Jacob Waldenmaier, to discuss academically related topics, to provide research help, and to create hall programs designed with an experiential learning focus. Along with the Faculty-in-Residence, Resident Assistants Bradley Taylor and Jessy Brooks create hall programs focused on experiential learning, on community building, and on creating a living-learning environment. These programs focus both on academics and social entertainment.

York Residence Hall features apartment-style dorms arranged in two, three, and four bedroom units with a private bedroom for each student. The bedrooms are fully furnished with modern espresso furniture and include a spacious closet. The shared space includes a living room and kitchen. It is furnished with a sofa, coffee table, kitchen table and chairs, linen closet, two-burner range top, built-in microwave, full-size refrigerator with icemaker, sink, and generous counter space and cabinet storage! Each floor has two lounges with plasma TVs for studying and spending time with fellow residents. Like all other residence halls, York has free laundry, wireless internet and plenty of comfortable furniture.
