GroupX

The GroupX-ercise program provides energy, variety, challenges, benefits and fun to help you stay mentally and physically fit.  Student can enjoy unlimited access to all GroupX classes for free.

How do I reserve a spot for a class?
Due to the popularity and size of our classes, HPURec has a 12-hour sign-up system.  This means that you may reserve a space in a GroupX class no earlier than 12-hours in advance of the class by calling (336) 869-9732.  Also, a waiting list is available if the class is full.  If someone drops out of the class then the next person on the list will be contacted. Be courteous and notify HPURec if you are unable to attend your class.

What is the schedule?
The updated GroupX schedule will be posted here and also at the HPURec Guest Services Desk in the Slane Student Center.  There you will find class descriptions and much more!

Group X Schedule


X-Fit  - XFIT is an elite program of high motivated individuals, based on the CrossFit strength and conditioning program that focuses on cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, speed, coordination, agility, balance, strength, power, and accuracy.

Body Rock - Body Rock works your entire body all within 45 minutes. While working every major muscle group, your core is constantly being worked. Get ready to have your body rocked

Cycling - Cycling is an intense alternative cardio workout that uses stationary bikes to tone all parts of the body while burning fat.

Zumba - Is a fun exciting cardio workout that works the whole body through Latin American and African dance moves. Be ready to dance, sweat, and move your body in ways you never thought you could!

20/20/20 Fit - 20/20/20Fit is a circuit training classs that focuses on toning your body, while getting in your heart rate up with different types of cardio such as spinning, step, dance, and more. Its goal is to melt away unwanted fat and tone up muscle.

Body Sculpting - Body Sculpting in a weight training class combined with quick, fun burst of cardio movement to get your heart rate up. Its goal is to tone muscle and burn fat.

Body Pump - Body Pump is an upbeat total body workout. Body Pump emphasis on toning and working large muscle groups of the upper and lower body including your core.

Jump Around - Jump Around is a high energy exercise class that incorporates spinning, jumping rope and medicine balls to give you a full body workout.

Yoga - Yoga is a class designed to put the body through its full range of motion while promoting flexibility, strength, and awareness.

Can I be an instructor?  How do I get certified?
Periodically, HPURec Services will host a fitness certification that can be utilized for employment both at HPURec and elsewhere.  Those who are certified or wanting to get certified are highly suggested to participate and/or teach GroupX.  Each new instructor will shadow a current instructor.
