HPU President, Students Ring NASDAQ Closing Bell

HIGH POINT, N.C., March 8, 2010 - High Point University visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square on March 8 for a special occasion - they were there to ring the closing bell. A group of High Point University faculty members, administrators and students were included in the memorable event. Dr. Nido Qubein, president of HPU, rang the bell at 4 p.m. Video of the bell-ringing aired on the NASDAQ MarketSite tower.

HPU Hosts Dr. Russ Sobel As Part Of BB&T Speaker Series

High Point University will host Dr. Russ Sobel as part of the BB&T grant speaker series. The event will be held at 7 p.m. on March 24 in the Phillips Hall Auditorium, Room 120. Sobel, professor of economics and holder of the James Clark Coffman Distinguished Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies at West Virginia University, will speak about "Economic Freedom, Entrepreneurship and Prosperity."

Incoming HPU Freshman Volunteers As Head Coach For Special Olympics

High Point University will be welcoming a student with a heart of gold in the fall of 2010. Kendall Hagar, who will begin her freshman year at HPU in a matter of months, is no stranger to giving back to her community.  Hagar, a native of Centennial, Colo., was recently named as one of the 2010 9Kids Who Care – an honor bestowed upon nine area kids who go far beyond the ordinary in serving their community.

HPU Freshman Helps Kids Make Right Choices Through 'Inside Out' Book and DVD

High Point University freshman Chandler DeWitt knows about peer pressure and making the right choices as a teen - after all, she is one. And she gets kids to really think about making the right choices through her book, "Inside Out: Real Stories about the Inner Choices That Shape our Lives," published by Parents & Company. Her book will also soon feature a companion DVD - and filming for that took place at High Point on Feb. 19.

HPU Interior Design Program Ranked Among Top 10 In Country

The Interior Design Program at High Point University has recently been ranked as one of the top 10 undergraduate design programs in the country by "DesignIntelligence" journal. The rankings were part of the 11th annual "America's Best Architectural & Design Schools" study, which ranked accredited undergraduate and graduate programs from the perspective of leading practitioners and professionals who have had experience hiring and evaluating the performance of recent graduates.
