The day finally came… I got to start my internship with Scholastic Parent & Child, a magazine based in New York City. I got up at the crack of dawn, boarded the bus into the city, and found myself at the Scholastic building in what felt like no time at all.

I met the editor I am going to be working directly under this summer, Liz, and got a full tour of the building, which houses most of Scholastic’s workers. We then went to a production meeting, where all of the editors met and discussed the features for the issue of the magazine that they are currently working on. Even though it’s only late May, the September issue is already in production!

I busied myself with a few odd jobs, such as organizing entries for P&C toy awards, and before I knew it, it was time to go home! I learned a lot during my first day, and I am beyond excited to see how I grow as a journalist this summer.
