Last week was really exciting because the other interns and I got tours of the different facilities around Research Triangle Park. We spent a day at each – Duke, N.C. State, and UNC- Chapel Hill – learning about the graduate programs and seeing the different labs and projects that are taking place there. There was such a

Glad you checked back with me to learn about my Plan B. In my last update, I was having trouble with maintaining constant current on the Bio-Rad CE. After talking with Dr. Colyer, we decided to make the switch to another CE instrument in the lab. The goal was to test my samples and method

Hello everyone!  So last post I was trying to find out if the receptor GPR109a was present in the retina of the eye. Luckily it was present in the endothelium cells!  My next step is to perform immunocytochemistry. In this procedure, primary antibodies target the peptide of interest, then a secondary antibody binds to the primary.

Glad you checked back with me! Research can be defined by the statement, “Never give up, just keep on trying.” You will see what I am talking about below… Last time I had finished up all of my UV/Vis and Fluroescence spectral work in addition to developing and creating my method for capillary electrophoresis separation.

In my last update, I had completed the spectral studies with UV/Vis and Fluorescence where I collected data for the excitation and emission wavelengths. I found out my excitation wavelength was 618 nm, which helped me to determine the emission wavelength of 656 nm. With those tasks complete, it was time to start forming my
