Health Professions Learning Community

[Sciences] School of Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy and College of Arts and Sciences

The Health Professions Learning Community provides opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in health care to live, network, and study together.  In this Learning Community, you’ll enroll in designated sections of English 1103 (College Writing and Public Life) and Biology 1399 (Introduction to Biological Principles and Literature) with your pre-health profession colleagues.  Pre-Athletic Training majors may take Bio 2070 (Human Anatomy) and Bio (2070L Human Anatomy Laboratory) instead of Biology 1399 (Introduction to Biological Principles and Literature). The need for compassionate, competent health care workers is expected to increase in the immediate future, as chronic diseases become more prevalent in the aging American population.  If you’re seeking a career in pharmacy, medicine, physical therapy, or other health care professions such as Physician Assistant or Athletic Training, the Health Professions Learning Community is for you! In addition to preparing you for the competitive application process for health-related degree programs, the Health Professions Learning Community will help you reach your goal of improving the health of the patients you serve.
