Several college and university libraries in the state of North Carolina operate on a 24 hour schedule; these schools include NC A&T, UNCG, Wake Forest, Duke, Elon and of course, UNC. High Point University, though, is one of the few that do a regular 24/7 schedule and also have a 24 hour schedule at another facility on campus – the R. G. Wanek Learning Commons. And while most schools close their libraries on Friday and Saturday night, High Point University goes the next step and hires trained librarians (many are students or graduates of the local library program at UNCG) to work during these late night weekend hours as well.
If you’ve never studied late at the library, you may not have met some of our incredible late night staff!
Trae Middlebrooks is a Late Night Library Supervisor who has been with High Point University since 2010. He has a Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies, and a Master’s in Library and Information Studies from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Brian Carter is a Late Night Library Supervisor who has been with High Point University since 2012. He has a Master’s in Library and Information Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Daryl Moore has just started with us as a Late Night Library Supervisor but he isn’t new to HPU. He has a Master’s in Nonprofit Management with a concentration on Educational Leadership from High Point University.
So come on by and see us anytime at Smith Library and Sunday through Thursday late nights at the Learning Commons. HPU Libraries are here to help no matter what time you’re studying and you can be sure that even if you are working late, you are working with a trained librarian in-person or via library chat!
