OverDrive eBooks: Read on your Kindle (or any device!)

Access popular titles from your phone or tablet 24/7

As people are increasingly reading and listening to books on their mobile phones and eReaders, many retail digital book subscription services can cost hundreds of dollars per year. However, HPU Libraries are excited to offer its students, faculty and staff free access to best-selling, popular and classic fiction and non-fiction eBooks available 24/7 from the library’s new digital collection, OverDrive eBooks.

You can browse the collection, borrow with your HPU credentials, and enjoy on your computer, tablet, smartphone or eReader. Borrowed eBooks can be enjoyed immediately in your web browser or can be downloaded to the free OverDrive app for mobile devices. Digital titles can also be enjoyed on devices such as the iPad, NOOK, and Kindle. No matter how you plan to enjoy, titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period. There are no late fees!

With hundreds of popular titles to choose from, this new collection is guaranteed to have something for everyone. You can enjoy best-sellers across many subjects and genres, including mystery, romance, contemporary, historical, young adult, self-help, business, inspirational, literary fiction and popular non-fiction. We even have a digital collection of HPU campus histories. You can browse by subject, collection, popularity, date added, or just view the eBook titles available for Kindle, as show in the screenshot below:

OverDrive will be replacing our Axis 360 eBook collection, and many of our Axis 360 titles will be migrating to the new platform over the course of the semester. This decision was made with you in mind, as OverDrive is easy to access and comes with many built-in features. If the book you want is checked out, just get on the wait list and it will be checked out to you when it becomes available. You can add books to a wish list, rate, and recommend titles for purchase. OverDrive also allows you to search for books NOT in our collection to conveniently suggest that we order a copy. And if you are a member of a public library that also uses OverDrive, you can even toggle between collections to maximize your access. OverDrive offers a robust “help” page, which details how to get set up on any device you may wish to use.

This new service is 100% free to HPU students, faculty, and staff. So get started enjoying our OverDrive collection today!
