Love Is In the Air! Love Stories in the Library

February is the perfect month to celebrate all things romance in the library. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, why not check out a few love stories to get in the mood?

Finding romance novels in the library is easy. In Smith Library, turn to your right as soon as you come in the door, and you’re there! Our new ReaderSpace houses all sorts of fantastic new books we think you should check out. The fiction books are even conveniently broken up into sections by genre – including a Romantic Fiction section! Just look for the red “romance” label on the spine. This is a great place to find the hottest new romance titles such as The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory or Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes.

If you’re ready to dive deep into some classic romance, just head upstairs to the third floor of Smith! If you’re searching for true classic love stories, look no further than the works of Jane Austen or the work of the Brontë sisters, Charlotte and Emily.

If you’re looking for something a little more contemporary and current, you’ll find love aplenty in the many offerings of author Nicholas Sparks. You’ve probably seen one of several movies produced from his work (The Notebook, The Longest Ride, Dear John)–now it’s time to read the novels! Other contemporary romance authors with huge catalogs of novels to pick from include Danielle Steel and Nora Roberts.

If you’re not sure WHAT you want to read yet, that’s okay too! There’s a new feature on the library webpage to help you figure it out. Along with the links on the left side of the homepage, there is a link to a page called New Fiction. This link will take you to a page that highlights some of the new books we’re most excited about in our ReaderSpace! You can filter down to the genre you’re interested in (Romantic Fiction, anyone?) and read small blurbs about each book, as well as access longer reviews to help you find the perfect book.

The Wanek Center Learning Commons library also has a Romantic Fiction section to peruse for Young Adult romance novels. Below are just a few of our favorites.

And if eBooks are more your thing, we have a collection of those, too! You can choose from over 100 romance titles on our OverDrive collection.

There’s lots to love about reading in the library. A timeless love story, your favorite person, and one of the cozy couches in the ReaderSpace sounds like the perfect Valentine’s Day date to us.
