Rachel Summers Bennett is a Greensboro-based pianist from Asheville, North Carolina. She began accompanying choirs and vocalists in 2007 and has since performed in venues across the country, including a performance at the White House in 2013 with the University of North Carolina at Asheville Chamber Singers. Mrs. Bennett graduated summa cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, studying with Dr. Paul Stewart. She then completed a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano at UNC-Greensboro, studying with Dr. James Douglass. Additional teachers and coaches include Dr. Inara Zandmane, Dr. Andrew Willis, Dr. Andre Lash, and Dr. John Salmon.
Mrs. Bennett enjoys working with opera, musical theater, and choral groups across the Triad area including Greensboro Opera, Greensboro Light Opera and Song summer program, UNC-Greensboro Opera Theatre, Greensboro Community Theater, and many different churches. In the fall of 2017, Ms. Bennett joined the High Point family as rehearsal and performance pianist for the theater’s production of Cabaret. In addition to playing for large groups and theater performances, Mrs. Bennett particularly enjoys accompanying soloists, and has done so for over 10 years, at UNC-Greensboro, UNC-School of the Arts, and many private studios across the triad.
