HPU Hires Well-Known Graphic Artist As Adjunct Professor

HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 5, 2008 - Allan Beaver has been hired as an adjunct professor in the art and communications departments at High Point University.
 
Beaver, a world-renowned graphic designer who was a founding partner, vice-chairman and chief creative officer of Levine Huntley Schmidt and Beaver, a New York City advertising agency, got his start as a graphic designer for CBS and then moved into advertising - winning awards in all major advertising shows.
 
He has produced award-winning work for such clients as Subaru Cars, Jockey Underwear, Maidenform, U.S. Healthcare, Matchbox Toy Cars, Frito-Lay, Parfums Givenchy and Hermes and many more. He has served as president of The Art Directors Club of New York, has been a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and was president of the executive board of the One Club for Art and Copy. The advertising industry also voted him among the top 100 creative people in the United States, including him in the volume "Who's Who in Advertising."
 
"Having Allan in the Art Department takes us to the next level as we plan on offering a new degree in Graphic Design and Digital Imaging," said Scott Raynor, assistant professor and chair of the Visual Art Department. "Allan brings a level of expertise to our department that will greatly enhance our students' experience."
 
Beaver, who has previously taught at the School of Visual Arts and has lectured at Princeton University, as well as the masters programs at Syracuse University and Marywood University, will teach an introductory-level design course at HPU, and then will move on to teach upper-level graphic-design-based courses. He'll also teach courses in the new Nido R. Qubein School of Communication.
