HPU Fraternity Raises Funds For Cancer Research

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 5, 2008 - The members of Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity at High Point University recently completed their third annual Garnet and Gold Classic Golf Tournament, raising $2,500 for cancer research.

The tournament, which had 60 players, benefited the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research - an organization named for the late Jim Valvano - which was founded to help find a cure for cancer. The fraternity's philanthropy efforts help to further the foundation's mission, which is to generate support for cancer research and create awareness of the importance of finding a cure.

Ryan Cox, fraternity member who headed up the golf tournament, says the event was an overall success.

"I was pleased to see so many people support this important cause," says Cox. "The tournament is growing yearly, and I look forward to seeing even more people participate in the future."
