Linda Jean Sekhon, DHSc, PA-C

Dr. Linda Sekhon is the founding chair for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program.  She has been a physician assistant educator since 1996.  Her educational interest is experiential learning through clinical simulation.  She has presented at several national conferences on how to incorporate clinical simulation technology into a PA curriculum.

During her academic career, Dr. Sekhon served as a member of the Site Development Committee for the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to encourage and support student involvement in medically underserved areas.  She is a HRSA grant reviewer and has been involved with several grants during her academic tenure.

Dr. Sekhon is well respected in the Physician Assistant community and has been honored as the Key Note Speaker at multiple Physician Assistant Program ceremonies.  She is the recipient of numerous awards for her professional leadership.   She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and in 2009 was honored by the academy for “Leadership Excellence in Community Volunteer Service”.  In October 2012 she received the Michael J. Habeck Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (PSPA) in recognition of sustained and exceptional service to the PSPA.  For over 10 years her clinical practice focused on Rheumatology during which time she has had multiple presentations and publications focusing on Rheumatologic conditions.  She was honored by the AAPA in 2012 with a Paragon Publishing Award for her article on Rheumatoid Arthritis.  This was awarded for noteworthy contributions to the PA profession, its communities, and to the field of medicine in support of enhancing patient care.

Dr. Sekhon serves on numerous professional committees at the state and national level.  She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and is a member of the Governance Commission and the Standing Rules Committee for the Academy.  She has served as a delegate to AAPA House of Delegates since 2005 and is a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants.
