2012 Events:

We hosted the Fall Meeting of SPS Zone 5 on November 16-17, 2012. The Theme was “Physics in everyday life.”

Highlights of the meeting were:

  • A plenary speaker from the animation industry to discuss physics used in animated films.
  • Invited presentations from physicists in various industries such as optics, microelectronics, and nanotechnology.
  • Undergraduate research poster sessions
  • Food, fun, and professional networking.
  • Workshops on doing high-speed photography and building your own wireless speaker system with a modulated laser.

We hosted seminar speakers in medical physics, nuclear physics, and astrophysics.

We took a trip to the Natural Science Center in Greensboro.
