What is ResNet?
ResNet stands for Residential Network
A Residential Network is the network of wires and equipment that allows students living on campus or in university owned housing to connect directly to the campus network. From there, students can access a wide variety of network services including e-mail, the library systems, and the Internet.
ResNet at High Point University
During the past five years, the rapid growth in demand for Internet services has led High Point University to seek new means of providing faster, more reliable network options. ResNet, a high-speed, dedicated connection, was created to provide faculty, staff, and students with the highest-level services possible. Port-per-pillow connections were added in the summer of 2001 to all residence halls, providing students with a dedicated connection to online university resources and the Internet. Each resident room now supports a 10/100 Mbps speed and each Resident Hall is now connected to the Campus backbone at 1 Gbps. ResNet at High Point University is one of the top networks of its kind in North Carolina.
