Fire Alarm upgrades

The fire alarm systems at Belk Hall and Finch Hall were upgraded during the 2015 summer to improve the safety and security of the buildings’ residents.

Stand-alone, battery-operated smoke detectors were removed from the bedrooms of the two buildings, and replaced with smoke detectors that tie into the building’s fire alarm system. In the event of a fire alarm activation in the bedroom, both HPU Security and the High Point Fire Department have earlier notification and can respond sooner.

More than 300 smoke detectors were replaced in the buildings, enhancing the buildings’ protection and the campus’ safety.
