Interest Meeting: Shakespeare in Performance – United Kingdom

Your adventure begins with travel to London, England to bring theater to life! The course will include travel to Stratford-upon-Avon, and at least five play performances in some of the most famous theaters in the world including the Royal Shakespeare Company Theater and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. Along the way, see the sites in London and visit Shakespeare’s birthplace! This course will likely meet the University’s General Fine Arts requirement.

Interest Meeting: Ganbatte! Adventuring in Tokyo

Do you like Japanese video games? Do you watch anime or read manga? Join this program and tour extensively in Tokyo as you examine Japanese media and popular culture and their influence in the United States. While you’re there, visit Akihabara Electric Town, stroll the Harajuku fashion district, and experience Tokyo Disneyland!

Interest Meeting: The Grand Tour in Italy

Follow in the footsteps of young artists who have historically honed their craft by visiting relevant sites in Italy and the rest of Europe. Work on-site on a series of studio projects in Rome, Pompeii, Florence, Siena, Venice, and other cities across Italy. Research specific works of art and architecture, then confront them face-to-face on this highly experiential and hands-on tour of Italy.

Interest Meeting: Cross Cultural Psychology in Spain, Morocco & Portugal

Travel extensively through Spain, Morocco, and Portugal as you observe and analyze the complex role culture plays in human behavior. Explore Moorish castles, wander exotic markets and medinas, admire masterpieces of art and design, and experience the rich culinary traditions of these three countries as you examine cross-cultural differences and similarities. Along the way, you’ll stay in a traditional riad in Morocco, see an exciting Flamenco show in Spain, and discover a new world in Portugal.

Interest Meeting: Cutting Edge Exercise Physiology

Explore beautiful San Diego as you attend the 2015 American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting.  Two weeks of on-campus lecture, discussion, and laboratory experiences will precede a week in San Diego followed by a final week on campus. Ideal for students interested in pursuing exercise science, athletic training or other clinical careers, this course will allow you to network with experts on the cutting edge of research as well as sport performance and health professionals.

Join us for this mandatory orientation program for all students participating in Spring 2015 HPU-affiliated study abroad programs. This workshop will contain information regarding travel logistics, health and safety, cultural adjustment and country-specific information. Meet with former study abroad students who have studied at your school and get answers to all of your study abroad questions!

We will begin the week with our annual Photo Contest from returned study abroad students and end it with an exclusive screening of Crossing Borders, a documentary that follows four Moroccan and four American university students as they travel together through Morocco and, in the process of discovering “The Other,” discover themselves.
